A base frame provides a surface onto which various mechanical components are mounted. Different components, eg. motors and gearboxes, have to be mounted at different centre line heights relative to the mounting surface to provide shaft alignment. The base frame must be stiff enough to remain in correct alignment when subjected to bending, twisting and vibrational effects during operation.
